SBAS Channel Number Allocation

The SBAS Channel number is to be published on any RNAV approach chart which includes an LPV minima. Using this number can be an option for a pilot to select this approach in its onboard navigation database, like he would do with a frequency for an ILS approach. According to ICAO Annex 10, the SBAS Channel number is unique through out the world, which requires that the allocation of them is centralised.

In anticipation of ICAO putting in place a world-wide solution for SBAS channel allocation, EUROCONTROL, ICAO and the FAA have agreed that EUROCONTROL would be the focal point in Europe for requests. EUROCONTROL will interface with the FAA who has its own tools. The FAA database of channel numbers will be kept up-to-date thanks to the information provided in the request and relayed by EUROCONTROL. The request shall in particular identify the country where the procedure is to be published, the airport and its ICAO code and the name of the chart (e.g. “RNAV (GNSS) Rwy xx”).

Requests should be sent to Rick FARNWORTH (richard.farnworth@eurocontrol.int) and Aline TROADEC (aline.troadec@eurocontrol.int).
