ICAO Procedures Pertaining to ATC Clearances and Vertical Separation in EUR RVSM Airspace

ATC CLEARANCE INTO THE EUR RVSM AIRSPACE
1. Except for operations within RVSM transition airspace, only RVSM approved aircraft and non-RVSM approved State aircraft shall be issued an ATC clearance into the EUR RVSM airspace.
2. ATC clearance into the EUR RVSM airspace shall not be issued to formation flights of aircraft.
VERTICAL SEPARATION
1. Between FL 290 and FL 410 inclusive, within the EUR RVSM airspace, the vertical separation minimum shall be:
a) 300 m (1 000 ft) between RVSM approved aircraft;
b) 600 m (2 000 ft) between:
i) non-RVSM approved State aircraft and any other aircraft operating within the EUR RVSM airspace;
ii) all formation flights of State aircraft and any other aircraft operating within the EUR RVSM airspace; and
iii) non-RVSM approved aircraft and any other aircraft operating within the EUR RVSM transition airspace.
2. ATC shall provide a minimum vertical separation of 600 m (2 000 ft) between an aircraft experiencing a communications failure in flight and any other aircraft when both aircraft are operating within the EUR RVSM airspace.
