Chairman: Mr G McAuley EUROCONTROL DSA/AMN

Introduction

The Mathematics Drafting Group (MDG) is established as a specific focal group under the aegis of the Navigation Sub-Group (NSG) of the Airspace Management & Navigation Team (ANT). The MDG will support the requirements for mathematical analyses of EATMP Programmes. The main area of analysis considered by the MDG is collision risk modelling, supported by other general mathematical and statistical analyses.

Scope

The work programme of the MDG will be governed by both the RVSM Implementation Programme for the period 1999-2004 and the European Navigation Strategy for the period 2000-2015.

Objective

The objectives of the MDG work programme include the development, peer review and application of mathematical and statistical analysis methodologies, the identification of data required by these methodologies, and the production of functional specifications for the analysis software.

In addition, and specifically in the context of RVSM, the objectives of the MDG work programme include the review of results from the RVSM risk estimation, the analysis of effects of any shortcomings in data provision, and the identification of possible effects of RVSM on system parameters. The validation of the analysis methodologies shall also be addressed.

Authority

The MDG takes direction from, and reports to, the NSG.

Tasks

The tasks of the Mathematics Drafting Group shall be those contained in the work programme of the MDG as approved by the NSG.

Participants

The Mathematics Drafting Group is composed of experts from ECAC states, appropriate international organisations and the EUROCONTROL Agency. The Agency will provide Chairman and Secretary.
